Child Cover – What if my child gets critically ill or injured?
If your child is sick or injured, you want to be by their side as they get well without worrying about bills and other expenses piling up. Child Cover offers a financial safety net to help support you during a difficult time.
A seriously sick or injured child is a parent’s worst nightmare. We don’t like thinking about it, and we certainly don’t like talking about it.
But like the rest of us, children can be insured so if the unthinkable does happen, you can get a lump sum payment to help with expenses like medical treatment, rehabilitation, replacing income if you or your partner takes time off work, or even a family holiday during what is often a very stressful time for everyone. Child Cover can also be added to an adult Life or Trauma insurance policy.
What are you covered for?
As with serious sickness or trauma insurance for adults, each insurance company maintains its own list of illnesses and injuries, but most include things like:
- Cancer
- Deafness
- Encephalitis
- Loss of limbs or sight
- Major head injury
- Major organ transplant
- Severe burns
Medical definitions and exclusions also vary between insurance companies, so do your research before deciding on a policy.
How much are you covered for?
Most insurers offer a free amount of Child Cover if attached to an adult insurance policy. If you want cover beyond this amount, some insurers can offer up to $250,000 of Child Cover. We can assist you to assess your circumstances and calculate the appropriate level of cover to protect you and your family.
